Required Volunteer Training Classes:

Grooming and Tacking
1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month 4:00pm
This class will cover all aspects of Grooming and Tacking horses the "Hearts' Way".  You will leave this event with a wealth of knowledge in all areas of grooming, as well as correct techniques for saddling, both Western and English, bridling, and saddle fitting.

Leading, Side-Walking & Emergency Procedures
2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month 4:00pm
This class is mandatory for all current Hearts volunteers.  It will cover all aspects of a side-walker's position, "holds", and how to fulfill the role of a competent side-walker.  The emergency procedures section will cover how to respond to various emergency situations that could arise in a therapeutic riding environment.  The Leading component of this class will teach even the most experience leader how to improve their techniques to evolve in to a confident and well trained leader.  You will learn how to use "The Leading Method" and control your horse with a light touch and correct body position.   You will learn the varying skills needed to successfully lead and side walk in a therapeutic riding lesson.
